How To Measure For Perfect Roman Shades Form?

Need a roman shade and need a little help?

The first thing you need to decide is how you want to mount your shade – inside or outside. If you want to inside mount your shade, check to make sure that you have at least 2″ of space inside the window trim at the top in order to mount the shade headrail bracket and at least 3″ if you want the shade to be fully recessed in the frame.

For an inside mount shade, get out your metal tape measure and measure the width of the window from inside the trim to inside the trim at the top, middle and bottom of the windows (the width can vary so choose the narrowest measurement!) and make sure to measure to the nearest 1/8″. Then carefully measure the length of the window from inside the trim to inside the trim. That’s it! So easy!

For an outside mount shade, get out your metal tape measure and measure the width of the window from outside of the trim to outside of the trim, and then add 2″. This will be your finished width. Then carefully measure the length of the window from outside of the trim to outside of the trim, and then add 4″. This will be your finished length. Ta daaa!

If all of this is making your head spin, then feel free to email us the dimensions on the roman shade measurement form below, along with a photo of your window, and let us figure it out for you!
